Abstract

The key to the research on emergent materials is the investigation of their response to modulated fields. Here in this work, the differential equation for electron motion is solved and plotted using Fortran and gnuplot to analyze the charge-carrier dynamical behavior in two-dimensional (2D) materials through the Drude model. Momentum decay of an electron in motion inside a material is compared with three other cases of applied electric fields. Properties such as speed and current density of the electron are also determined to show how this old model still functions in today's science.
