Abstract

Wavefront reconstruction via multiple-plane phase retrieval relies on intensity variation. The lack of which leads to the problem of stagnation in the iterative calculations. Modified bi-histogram equalization is used to produce a scaling mask which, in turn, is used to adjust the variation of the wave amplitudes. The technique enhanced the intensity measurements, thereby improving the phase reconstructions at faster convergence rates. The technique requires one-time application, does not entail experimental cost, and can be extended to the different phase retrieval methods.
