Abstract

The effects on the lattice parameters and the critical temperature of Bi2212 upon iron doping on calcium site prepared by solid state synthesis has been investigated. The iron content was varied from x=0 to 0.2 on a nominal stoichiometry of Bi₂Sr₂Ca₁₋ₓFeₓCu₂O8. The samples were characterized by powder X-ray analysis and resistancetemperature measurements. It has been found out that the incorporated into the system. Via the Resistance vs. Temperature measurements, it has been observed that the transition temperature drops considerably even at small doping levels of iron, from 80K to 65K. Also, iron induces a noticeable decrease in the c-axis length and slight increase in the b-axis length of the said system.
