Hotter Condensates! Polaritons take BEC to higher degrees

Abstract

Scientists applied a confining potential to trap polaritons. The polaritons that have accumulated in the trap exhibit many of the same signatures seen in trapped atom condensates. A single, spatially compact condensate gas of polaritons is formed in the center of the trap analogous to the case of atomic Bose-Einstein condensate.
