Editorial — Preserving the bloodline of scientists in a developing country

Abstract

Welcome to the second issue of Pisika. In this editorial, we strive to establish this journal by focusing on teacher-scientists, their students and the roles they play in a developing country like the Philippines. Pursuing a career in science requires setting up individual responsibilities that are not clearly defined in the places where we work. In fact, we hardly ever call ourselves scientists because in most cases, the academic institution we work for hired us to assume a teaching position. Most of us perform our duties as scientists out of our own desire to become one and as an additional role on top of teaching.
