Researchers associate cause of ion beam asymmetry to secondary electron emission
Abstract
A team of researchers investigates the cause of beam asymmetry in a compact Gas Discharge Ion source. They attributed the beam asymmetry to secondary electron emission, which occurs when a beam of highly energetic charged particles strike a metal surface thereby liberating electrons on the surface.
