Abstract

This study introduces a simple way of controlling the optical properties, such as reflectivity, of porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) platform via electro- less deposition of silver particles. AAO samples were grown from low grade aluminum sheets via anodization. The samples were dipped in different concentrations of silver nitrate solutions and subjected to Ultraviolet-Visible light spectroscopy to determine the optical property of AAO. X-ray diffraction pattern spectrum of the deposited silver on the anodized Aluminum oxide samples was also obtained. It was observed that the reflectivity of the samples is dependent upon the addition of silver nitrate solution. This leads to possibilities of fabricating colored thin film coatings on Aluminum substrates.
