Surface morphological characteristics of electrophorically Deposited Bi-2212 on Ag-coated MgO Substrate after Melt-Quenching and Post-annealing

Abstract

Bi-2212 films were grown on Ag-coated MgO (100) substrates via electrophoretic deposition (EPD) using a suspension ratio of 0.1g powder per 30mL of ethanol. Varying time and voltage deposition parameters were employed during the EPD. Melt-quenching and post-annealing at 970°C and 800°C produced highly crystalline and superconducting Bi-2212 films with critical temperature onset ranging from 80 K to 65 K. Changes in surface morphology of the post annealed films were observed as the applied voltage and deposition time was varied. The presence of voids and tilted layers were seen on the films.
