Phase retrieval of test objects with unknown obstructions using unordered propagations

Abstract

The conventional Single Beam Multiple Intensity Reconstruction (SBMIR) is an iterative algorithm based on propagation of fields from one plane to another in sequential form. Recently, an approach using unordered propagation was demonstrated to accelerate the reconstruction of smooth test objects. However, the presence of unknown obstructions may cause the iterative phase retrieval to diverge or result in artifact errors. We utilize the unordered phase retrieval algorithm to investigate how much information can be reconstructed in the presence of obstruction. Results show that the utilization of Unordered SBMIR provides faster convergence in the phase retrieval even in the presence of obstruction and the reconstruction is more robust when the obstruction is situated at distances far from the object.
