Exact decoherence in a bit-by-bit measurement with environment

Abstract

In this paper, we study the bit-by-bit measurement model in the presence of an environment. The environment consists of atoms, with each atom being an infinite dimensional quantum system.  It is found that when the atoms are initially in momentum limited states exact decoherence is induced at a well-defined time.
