Finite part integration of an integral relevant in the mechanism giving rise to flux noise in SQUIDs
Finite part integration is a method of evaluating a given convergent integral by inducing divergence
in the convergent integral and then interpreting the divergent integrals arising as finite part integrals.
Here we evaluate an integral with a form of a standard Stieltjes transform exactly and asymptotically
using finite part integration. The integral is claimed to be relevant on the study of the mechanism
producing intrinsic flux noise in superconducting quantum interference devices or SQUIDs.
