Dynamics of an elastic particle in a horizontally oscillating one-dimension box with a non-frictionless floor
Numerical experiments were carried out on the trajectory of an elastic particle in a box with a non-frictionless floor. The effects of varying the amplitude, length, angular frequency, and μk (coefficient of kinetic friction) of the floor, on the dynamics of the particle were studied. It was found that μk made the most significant change in the trajectory of the particle and that given certain parameters chattering was observed.
