Abstract

The dependence of the photoluminescence (PL) lifetime of GaAs/AlGaAs multiple quantum wells on the number of wells were investigated. The sample used contains a set of 20 independent 50Å GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells with well separation of 100Å. The number of wells was varied by etching out the top wells. The lifetime was observed to peak at 10 wells. Further study on this phenomenon is recommended.
