Abstract

The wettability property of Ti3SiC2 deposited on polycarbonate substrate was investigated using the contact angle measurement. Dinolite Digital Microscope was used to measure contact angles of static liquid drops onto the substrates. Six samples were prepared, the first three samples were subjected to reactive sputtering deposition (RSD) with different CH4:Ar ratios of 1:10, 2:10 and 3:10. The next three samples were subjected to nonreactive sputtering deposition (NSD) with different target potentials of -50V, -200V and -350V. Results showed the deposition of Ti3SiC2 to polycarbonate substrate makes the polycarbonate more hydrophilic. As the CH4:Ar ratio for RSD and target potential for NSD increases, the polycarbonate substrate become more hydrophilic.
