Abstract

We observe universal features of the distributions of areas and perimeters of segmented areas formed due to criss-crossings of streets in two Metropolitan Manila cities. The tails of the distributions follow power-laws, best described by exponents α = -2.5 and ß = -2.3 for area, and perimeter, respectively. On the other hand, the circularity of the distributions shows stark differences, suggesting that this is the better discriminant of the different features of the cities.
