Abstract

C-arm fluoroscopy has been an integral part of both interventional and cardiac procedures. But despite the benefits a C-arm fluoroscopy unit can provide, there is a substantial risk associated with its use for the workers with regards to the leakage and scattered radiation from the C-arm. Using a survey detector, the researcher measured the leakage and scattered radiation of two C-arm units at different distances and angles. It was observed that increasing the distance from the radiation source decreases the radiation exposure and that radiation exposure is dependent on the positioning of the C-arm.
