Zinc oxide-reduced graphene oxide electrodes deposited via spray pyrolysis technique for electrochemical capacitors

Abstract

Electrochemical capacitors (ECs) are energy storage devices of high interest for their energy storing capabilities. Triple source capacitance in an EC was achieved through the metal oxide functionalization of reduced Graphite Oxide (rGO) electrodes. Zinc oxide was deposited via spray pyrolysis on low-temperature reduced GO. The electrochemical properties of the fabricated capacitors were analyzed using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. A specific capacitance of 0.529 μF was obtained, along with an energy density of 1.059 μWh kg-1 and a power density of 1.906 mW kg-1 higher than that of pure rGO electrodes.
