Abstract

The response of a Hodgkin-Huxley neuron to a biased sinusoidal input current is investigated. The ordinary differential equation system with standard parameter-values were numerically solved using Adams method. The mean of the membrane potential generated by the system is shown to follow two power law regimes for constant input. We show that this response changes with different sinusoid amplitude and frequency. From correlating the parameters of amplitude, frequency, and constant bias with respect to the mean membrane potential, different forms of the action potential is propagated, characterizing the Hodgkin-Huxley neuron’s nonlinear behavior.
